Take your drone lessons and skills to the next level

Drone Mapping is our advanced program for schools to help you turn your drone into a powerful data collection and mapping tool.

The perfect next step for more experienced students.

Drone Mapping

In this STEM school program the students will use sub 2kg drones and industry standard geospatial
mapping technologies to capture and process imagery to analyse, and
monitor their local environment. More information

PRE COURSE MODULE

Mission Requirements

Understand the software, terminology, and output of your drone mapping mission; the key inputs to get the right outputs.

MODULE 1

Mission Planning

Learn the exact workflow you need to capture reliable data in the field. Discover the best apps to help you on your mission.

MODULE 2

Field Survey

How do you get the best results out in the field? This module will help you set a survey that returns reliable data.

Module 3

Data Pre-Processing

You've got your data. Now what? Learn to process your data to create orthomosaic and 3D digital surface modules.

MODULE 4

Information Extraction

Effectively extract information and present spatial analysis. Learn to produce a map of your survey that includes all essential elements.

Student Outcomes

Get real hands-on experience with flying drones in schools to understand the workflow required to undertake data capture missions; create and execute a flight plan designed for capturing mapping data; design and execute a plan to capture corresponding field survey data; create orthomosaic and 3D digital surface models and use GIS to display, create and edit spatial data.

Teacher Outcomes

Be trained to teach geospatial science for schools and how to capture spatial data with drones, process that data, and using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse, measure, map, and communicate their findings. Instil confidence and empower you to build competencies, knowledge and the skills to teach She Maps STEM school programs in accordance with the National Curriculum.

What will work better for you, your students and your school?

Drone Mapping can be delivered via virtual coaching, online professional learning, or a combination of these.

This program is suited to students that have significant training, understanding and experience in flying and coding drones.

It is an advanced course that uses sub 2kg drones to collect significant data.

Our Drone Mapping program is designed not only for advanced school students but also for individuals and businesses that want to get more out of their sub 2kg drone or are thinking of purchasing a sub 2kg drone for more than just pretty pictures.

This is NOT a course to obtain a drone operator license (RePL in Australia, or equivalent overseas).

There are many other fabulous courses online and face-to-face courses available to gain your drone license.
