Student Outcomes

Get real hands-on experience with flying drones in schools to understand the workflow required to undertake data capture missions; create and execute a flight plan designed for capturing mapping data; design and execute a plan to capture corresponding field survey data; create orthomosaic and 3D digital surface models and use GIS to display, create and edit spatial data.

Teacher Outcomes

Be trained to teach geospatial science for schools and how to capture spatial data with drones, process that data, and using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse, measure, map, and communicate their findings. Instil confidence and empower you to build competencies, knowledge and the skills to teach She Maps STEM school programs in accordance with the National Curriculum.

Drone Mapping can be delivered via virtual coaching, online professional learning, or a combination of these. 

This program is suited to students that have significant training, understanding and experience in flying and coding drones. 

It is an advanced course that uses sub 2kg drones to collect significant data.

Our Drone Mapping program is designed not only for advanced school students but also for individuals and businesses that want to get more out of their sub 2kg drone or are thinking of purchasing a sub 2kg drone for more than just pretty pictures.

This is NOT a course to obtain a drone operator license (RePL in Australia, or equivalent overseas). 

There are many other fabulous courses online and face-to-face courses available to gain your drone license.

Meet the Education Director

Dr Karen Joyce holds a PhD in Geographical Sciences and is a leader in remote sensing and spatial mapping. She has led numerous programs within Australia and internationally and developed educational resources for primary, elementary, secondary and tertiary institutions as well as private industry and government organisations.
